Welcome to Grid Poetics!

A collaborative space for writing.

Getting Started

To begin, join a canvas by entering the name of an existing canvas in the Canvas ID field, and click Join Canvas. You can also join an existing canvas by navigating directly to its URL. If the canvas does not exist, a new one will be created with its own unique URL.

Basic Writing & Navigation

• Move the Cursor: Use the Arrow Keys to navigate the grid.
• Writing (Insert Mode): Grid Poetics works in "Insert Mode" by default. This means:
  • Typing a character will push any existing text to the right.
  • Backspace will delete the character to the left and pull text from the right to fill the space.
  • Space will insert a space and push text to the right.
• Enter moves the cursor to the next logical starting point on the line below.

Selecting & Moving Content

• To Select an Area: Hold down Shift and use the Arrow Keys. You can also hold down Shift and left-click with your mouse.
• To Move Content: First, select an area. Then, hold down Cmd (on Mac) or Ctrl (on Windows) and use the Arrow Keys to move the entire block of content.

Shortcuts

Use these shortcuts to format your text and control the view. Most require a cell or an area to be selected first.

Select a sentence	Triple-click

You can also Right-Click on the canvas to open a menu with many of these options.
